Why police helicopter was flying over south Bristol

A police helicopter was used to support officers in Bristol today (April 19).

Police were called to reports occupants of two cars were behaving suspiciously near Wyndham Crescent, Brislington, at around 10.15am.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "A knife was reportedly seen as the occupants were involved in a dispute before driving off at speed.

"Soon afterwards a similarly described vehicle was seen at the nearby Nightingale Valley Nature reserve, this time in company with a red van, which was abandoned in St Anne’s Terrace.

"Officers have seized the van, which was causing an obstruction."

The police helicopter was used to support officers on the ground searching for the two cars involved – a dark-coloured BMW and a blue Audi – with no trace.
