Why police and sniffer dogs were called to a Bristol street last night

Police were called to a Henleaze street last night after receiving reports of a burglary in the area.

Undercover officers, as well as sniffer dogs, were all called to Cheriton Place yesterday evening (Monday, July 13) at around 10pm.

One concerned resident said on Twitter: "@ASPolice Are you able to enlighten the residents of Eastfield Terrace Henleaze what was happening last night?

"Undercover police, sniffer dog and torches. Do we need to be worried?"

However, Avon and Somerset Constabulary has since confirmed today that officers were called to attend reports of a burglary which then ended up being a false alarm.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 10pm last night (Monday 13 July) to reports of a dwelling burglary in Cheriton Place, Bristol.

"Officers, including the dogs unit, attended but there was no sign of a crime in progress."
