Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that his introduction as a substitute against Paris Saint-Germain in the second-half was pre-planned.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to revert to a back three against the Ligue 1 champions with Luke Shaw playing as a centre-back which handed Alex Telles his Manchester United debut at left wing-back.
Pogba started as a substitute during Saturday's win against Newcastle but did not return to the starting XI against Thomas Tuchel's men as Solskjaer opted for a midfield pivot of Scott McTominay and Fred.
The Frenchman replaced Telles in the 67th minute with the score level following Anthony Martial's own goal and helped turn the game in United's favour.
Pogba provided the assist for Marcus Rashford's winner and revealed after the win that his introduction was planned by Solskjaer before the game.
"It [his substitution against PSG] was prepared," he told RMC Sport. "We had prepared well for the match.
"We know that they are very strong offensively, and we had to block that. Afterwards, we started especially well and we had chances. [We] managed to score.
"We knew what awaited us [in Paris]. All the players were ready for this match — the result came as it should have come. They had chances, we also had some and we materialised. The result is positive."
Solskjaer praised the impact of Pogba during his post-match press conference.
He said: "We played well today, we showed confidence. As you said, at 1-1 in the middle of the second-half we started to get more confidence, played, Paul Pogba came on and did really well for us and we created chances.
"I thought we created chances. Of course, we lost Eric, we lost Harry, Mason [Greenwood] isn't ready yet. We made a little change. We've got players that can play split strikers and we thought they could do some damage."
