Why Patrice Evra has returned to Manchester United

Patrice Evra has returned to Manchester United in order to complete his coaching badges as he looks to begin a career in management.

The former France international announced his retirement from football earlier this year but has returned to Old Trafford to gain his qualifications.

He signalled his intentions to forge a career in coaching and has been completed the relevant work at his former club.

Posting on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Evra posed in his Manchester United coaching gear with the initials 'PE' emblazoned on the front.

Evra wrote: "I can't describe how I feel right now! Just wearing that training coach kit made me one of the most happy man thank you @manchesterunited for helping me to complete my coach badges!

"Day one done."

Evra won 21 major honours during his illustrious career, including five Premier League titles, and has been backed to make a successful transition into management by Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.

The Spaniard commented on the post: "Good to see you amingo. Coach pat."

There is no clue yet as to where Evra could potentially manage but the ex-left-back did reveal when he wanted to take a job.

He told Gazetta dello Sport last month that he wanted to lead a team within two years.

"I started training for the UEFA B Coaching License in 2013, now I want to finish it and then go on to get the UEFA A license.

"In a year and a half, if everything goes well, I'll be ready to lead a team."
