Why parts of the A52 will be closed overnight

Parts of the A52 will be closed overnight due to electrical works needing to be carried out.

It will be shut in both directions, eastbound and westbound, between Gamston and the Wheatcroft Island.

According to Highways England, this will be the case from 8pm on Wednesday, April 22, until 6am on Thursday (April 23).

A spokeswoman for the company said the works were planned.

There will also be 24/7 lay-by closures and speed restrictions in place as a result of the work.

Meanwhile, the A52 will also be closed from 9pm on Wednesday between the Priory Island and Bramcote Island.

This is as a result of damage to a gantry - signage on the road - and it is unclear when it will reopen.

The road westbound was initially shut on Tuesday (April 21) between Thoresby Road and Bramcote Island and later reopened.

Engineers will return later on to remove the steel frame of the gantry.
