The Packers have selected Maryland Safety Darnell Savage with the 21st overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Savage has all the upside to be a legitimate player in the NFL. He is an elite athlete who has the right mentality and smarts to be great. He needs a lot of work in deep coverage before he can be a legit pro bowler but he has all the upside and ability ti be a star safety in the league.
For the Packers, taking the chance on Savage could turn out to be quite beneficial. He has tons of ability and should mesh well with the athletic players in their secondary. Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson were nice additions in last year’s draft and adding another high upside player like Savage could bode well in that secondary.
Good pick by the Packers and trading up for this talented player was a smart move.
