Why one man 'paid £16,000' to watch Liverpool's Champions League final against Tottenham

Watching Liverpool win the Champions League will be a priceless memory for every Reds supporter who saw what unfolded in Madrid.

But one football fan seemingly paid a higher price than most to watch the victory against Spurs.

The ECHO has been sent pictures of people watching the game on board a luxury cruise - and it appears that one guest on the liner stumped up a vast amount to ensure there was a licence in place to show the final.

A woman who was on board the cruise sent in these images, and said: "We were on a cruise to Alaska which set off from Vancouver.

"There were rumours they were going to play the match.

"Then they announced they had managed to get a licence to screen the footy live on board.

"It was going round that some bloke had paid £16,000 to get it!

"There were roughly 2000 people on the boat and about 150 watched the match."

Hopefully whoever paid up to secure the screening got the result they wanted as the Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 to lift their sixth European Cup.
