Why Novak Djokovic is blaming Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for shock defeat

Roberto Bautista Agut claimed a shock victory over world number one Novak Djokovic 1-6 7-5 6-3 at the Miami Open.

The Spaniard took time to find his rhythm, losing his first two service games and finding himself 5-0 down in the first set.

Djokovic, a six-time winner at the tournament, took 33 minutes to take a one-set lead, and broke the first game in the second set.

But Bautista Agut, ranked 25th in the world, bounced back after a rain delay and drew the game level at 1-1.

Two further breaks of serve were all that was needed for Bautista Agut to take the match and set up a quarter-final tie with reigning champion John Isner.

Djokovic admits he had been distracted by off-court issues as the row with ATP chief Chris Kermode continues.

ATP Players' Council President Djokovic and Kermode have been at loggerheads, with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer expressing their concern at the situation after the board decided not to extent Kermode's contract, throwing the future of the men's game in doubt.

"I mean, just had, you know, way too many things off the court," Djokovic said after his defeat to Bautista Agut.

“I guess that affected me a little bit on the court.”

He added: “I didn't feel my best health-wise, as well, in Indian Wells and here. You know, still rusty, but, hey, look, you learn that's life.”
