Why Nottingham Forest's Jorge Grant could end the day with two promotion medals

Nottingham Forest's Jorge Grant could end the day wearing two EFL promotion medals should Mansfield Town be victorious at Stadium:MK.

The ex-Notts County man, who is enjoying his second loan spell of the season, joins Forest teammates Tyler Walker and Jordan Smith in making the trip south to Milton Keynes, but he could be forgiven for having one eye on a result elsewhere.

Just as the game in Buckinghamshire comes to an end, Luton Town's clash with Oxford United will be getting underway.

Victory for Luton, the club where Grant spent the first six months of the season, and they will be crowned champions in League One, just pipping Barnsley to the post.

Whether the 24-year-old will receive a medal either club is down to their descrecion.

Under EFL rules, each promoted side are, no matter the magnitude of their playing staff, given 25 medals.

It is then up to the club to decipher who they see deserves one.

Grant's 17 appearances for the Hatters makes him their 17th most used player this season and is one of only 19 players to start, making him a shoe-in to scoop a medal.

Since making the switch back to Nottinghamshire with Mansfield, Grant has helped the Stags maintain their promotion push.

Victory tomorrow at Stadium:MK, just 40 minutes from where he grew up in Banbury, will see him achieve what he came so close to doing at Meadow Lane - winning promotion to League One.

Grant is contracted to remain at the City Ground until 2020, but with first-team options limited under Martin O'Neill it remains likely that he could be moved on in the summer.
