Why Nottingham Forest need more from their substitutes' bench in play-off battle

The subject of Nottingham Forest’s substitutes has been widely discussed in the hours since the Reds were beaten 1-0 by Fulham.

Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds delivered an insipid display against their play-off rivals, and despite making five changes during the second half, little impact was felt off the bench.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Forest podcast Garibaldi Red, broadcaster and fan Chris Ellis admits Lamouchi will be keen to see more from his squad in the final four games, with a play-off place on the line.

They’ve got 14 or 15 players now who can rotate, but after that, the players they’ve got aren’t making an impact.

The players that came off the bench (against Fulham) made very little impact at all, they didn’t get into the game.

Nuno Da Costa’s been added to that group now, and before lockdown, you felt that he wasn’t. He’s now showing he’s one of those players that fits into this team at the team.

Beyond that 15, you feel as though you’ve got fringe players who perhaps can’t make an impact.
