NEW DELHI: India's much-awaited ODI squad for the upcoming Asia Cup was announced by the BCCI on Monday at a press conference by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and skipper Rohit Sharma.
Among the biggest talking points of the 17-member squad was the comeback of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. However, Rahul's availability is subject to his recovery from what Agarkar described as a "niggle", which is not related to his original thigh injury.
IPL sensation Tilak Varma, who recently made his debut for India in the T20I series in Ireland, has also been included in the squad, which will have Sanju Samson as the backup player.
Prasidh Krishna, who, like Jasprit Bumrah, returned from injury in the T20I series in Ireland, has also been included in the squad along with Bumrah.
However, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was ignored, while his fellow wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was included.
Among the reaction by fans on social, many questioned why the veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan was not considered as an option.
