Why no Ajax fans are at Chelsea for Champions League clash

There are no Ajax fans at Chelsea tonight as the two sides face each other in the Champions League.

The away end at Stamford Bridge has been left completely empty for the match in the group stages of the European competition.

No Ajax fans travelled to London to watch the clash live at the stadium after the Dutch giants were banned from selling tickets for the encounter.

The reason for the ban was down to crowd trouble which came about during their Champions League match at Valencia earlier this season at the Mestalla.

Ajax also had a similar issue last season in their game against Benfica in the same competition.

Ajax were also fined £43,200 but that didn't stop some fans travelling to the game, with many in London as they had already booked travel and accommodation.

Worried about Ajax fans still attending, supporters were warned they should expect to bring photo ID with them to the contest.
