Why NET tram services have been suspended in Nottingham today

Tram services have been suspended on multiple routes across the city this morning following an overhead line fault.

Engineers are now investigating the incident after trams stopped running just before 11am on Wednesday (August 11).

The overhead line fault has been located near to the Basford, NET Trams confirmed.

There is currently no service between Bulwell and the Old Market Square, and Phoenix Park and the Old Market Square in both directions.

Trams travelling from Hucknall will terminate at Bulwell.

Passengers travelling on trams from Toton Lane and Clifton South will finish their journey at the Old Market Square.

Tram ticket holders can continue their journey on bus or train.

A number of buses operating on the affected routes are accepting tram tickets including NCT Yellow, NCT Orange and Shuttle Bus services.

Alternatively, passengers can opt for railway stations which are located at Hucknall, Bulwell and Nottingham Railway Station.

A NET spokesman said: “Engineers are currently investigating an overhead line fault near to the Basford tram stop and are working to restore a full service as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, trams continue to serve Toton Lane and Clifton South from The Forest and are running between Hucknall and Bulwell.

"Services are temporarily suspended between The Forest and Bulwell, and to Phoenix Park.

"A replacement shuttle bus is now in operation on this section of the network and NCT Yellow and Orange Line buses, and East Midlands Trains, are also accepting tram tickets.

“We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience and to assure them that every effort is being made to complete any necessary repairs as quickly as possible.

"Further updates will be posted on the NET website and our social media channels.”
