Rupert Murdoch personally ordered the firing of Judith Regan, the publisher of the widely criticised OJ Simpson book, after he heard reports of a heated conversation in which Regan was said to have made anti-Semitic remarks. The comments were passed first to Jane Friedman, ceo of HarperCollins, and then to Murdoch. He immediately sanctioned Regan's dismissal, declaring that her remarks were "the final straw."
