Why mother of dead journalist won't bury a body

The mother of a Ukrainian journalist who disappeared six years ago will not accept that the body officials claim to be that of her son, Heorhiy Gongadze, is really his. She therefore refuses to collect the remains for burial. Gongadze, who wrote about official corruption on a website, vanished in 2000. A beheaded body - identified by government authorities as his - was later found in a forest. The killing triggered months of protests against the then president Leonid Kuchma after a witness released tape recordings in which a voice resembling Kuchma's was heard conspiring with others against Gongadze. Three former policemen went on trial for the killing earlier this year. But Gongadze's mother, Lesya, is still campaigning for the authorities to find the mastermind behind her son's abduction.
