Why Mohamed Salah was invited to London ceremony by Prince William

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is in London this evening for the inaugural Earthshot Prize awards ceremony at Alexandra Palace.

The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious global environment award that was launched by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough last year.

A number of celebrities are in attendance and the event will be hosted by Clara Amfo and Dermot O’Leary.

Among the performers are Ed Sheeran, KSI and Coldplay and the five winners will be announced by a line-up of presenters, which includes Salah.

The categories include Protect and Restore Nature, Revive Our Oceans, Clean Our Air, Build a Waste-free World and Fix Our Climate.

Each winner will receive a £1 million prize fund as well as support to further their impact and ground-breaking work.

Salah was chosen alongside a number of celebrities to present an award, along with the Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Thompson, Emma Watson and David Oyelowo.

The 29-year-old was on the scoresheet once again in yesterday's 5-0 thrashing of Watford at Vicarage Road.

Salah currently leads the Premier League's top goalscorers, along with Jamie Vardy, with seven goals so far this season.

The Egyptian shared a snap on social media with his agent Ramy Abbas last night as the pair dined at The Araki sushi restaurant in Westminster.

That led to plenty of speculation among supporters regarding the ongoing contract negotiations between Salah and the club.
