Arsenal were among the busiest Premier League clubs in January, with Mikel Arteta's side largely focusing on outgoing deals.
That saw Sead Kolasinac, Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis leave the Emirates Stadium, with the five players all set to see their deals expire at the end of the campaign.
Following a number of those departures, Arsenal's focus shifted towards securing new additions - with Mat Ryan and Martin Odegaard arriving on loan from Brighton and Real Madrid respectively.
Arteta's recruitment drive was not done there though, as he targeted a late swoop for a left-back to provide depth beneath Kieran Tierney.
Names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium were few and far between, with the transfer window eventually coming to a close without an addition in this area.
However, it appears that efforts were made as Spanish radio station ESportsRAC1 claimed that Arsenal made an enquiry to Barcelona regarding the availability of Junior Firpo.
Ronald Koeman was not prepared to sanction a departure for the 24-year-old though unless he was able to sign Eric Garcia from Manchester City - with that transfer expected to go through in the summer when his deal with Pep Guardiola's side expires.
Arsenal would have encountered difficulties by signing Firpo though, as their quota of foreign players had hit the max.
Sead Kolasinac's spot in the squad was filled by the signing of Australian Mat Ryan, which required Shkodran Mustafi to leave on deadline day to enable Arteta to register Odegaard for the remainder of the season.
Had Firpo, or indeed another non-homegrown player arrived on deadline day, Arsenal would have had to trim their squad further.
