Why Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock is not happy ahead of Bristol City clash

Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has spoken of his frustration as he and his side prepare for two trips south in the space of five days.

Boro are the visitors to Ashton Gate this evening for a clash with Bristol City in the Championship, in a game that was moved to a 7pm kick off, before then being rescheduled to the original kick off time of 7.45pm.

Middlesbrough then follow the trip to Bristol with another long away journey to Cardiff City on Saturday, with Warnock set to return to south Wales with his Boro side.

And the Middlesbrough boss has said that he has called the EFL to voice his displeasure about the fixture schedule, ahead of his side's game against the Robins tonight.

"I did ring the EFL up to speak to the gentleman in charge of the schedule and asked him how in 2020 we could get two fixtures like these," Warnock said ahead of the game, as reported by Teesside Gazette.

“He said it was just how it fell, they did look at it, but there was nothing they could do about it."

Warnock confirmed that following the game against City, Boro would be travelling back to Teesside, before making the long journey to south Wales at the weekend.

But Warnock is not happy about it, with Middlesbrough set to lose preparation time among all the travel.

“We’ll be travelling back to Teesside after the Bristol game and then back to Cardiff on Friday," Warnock said.

“It means we can’t do much training for the games. We’re travelling most of the time."
