Why Middlesbrough boss is worried ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate says he will be “analysing” himself over the next day as he prepares to face Nottingham Forest.

The Reds travel to the Riverside on Monday night (March 2) in their next match in the Sky Bet Championship, with both clubs keen on all three points for their respective reasons.

Forest are striving for promotion, and currently lie in fourth place in the league standings, while Boro are in in 21st and only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Woodgate’s side lost 1-0 to promotion chasers Leeds United on Wednesday night, with the three clubs currently in the drop zone – Wigan Athletic, Barnsley and Luton Town - all winning in midweek to add to their woes.

The Boro boss says he will look at himself and his squad ahead of the crucial match against Forest on Monday.

“I’ll be analysing myself over the next 24 hours and I’ll be looking at myself hard and also I’ll be looking at my players,” Woodgate told BBC Tees shortly after the final whistle against Leeds.

On Boro’s league position, he added: “We’re always going to be concerned, I’ve been concerned even when we were 10 points clear.

“I even thought it was going to be tough then. I said that we were right in it.

“A lot of the teams are, by the way, we’re not the only one.

“They showed tonight that they can fight and scrap and they can match a top Leeds team.”
