Why Mexico v Ecuador World Cup game is delayed

Mexico World Cup Ecuador Estadio Azteca (Facility)

Mexico v Ecuador World Cup 2026 round of 32 match was delayed by an hour after a thunderstorm hit the Mexico City Stadium area.
The storm began about two hours before kickoff at Estadio Azteca.
The two teams have yet to warm up to prepare for the match.
The game was scheduled for 9 p.m. ET, and now kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.
Mexico is aiming to reach the round of 16 and match its best-ever World Cup runs (quarterfinals in 1970 and 1986).
