It was a feverishly awaited - albeit brief - comeback to public life, and the Duchess of Sussex delighted fans appearing at Trooping the Colour.
Looking radiant and elegant in navy Givenchy, Meghan Markle waved and smiled as she rode down the Mall in a carriage with her husband, the Duchesses of Cornwall and Cambridge.
While she was positioned prominently for the procession, it was a different story when it came to the Buckingham Palace line-up.
Last year, the newly-minted Duchess stood at the back for her balcony debut despite enjoying a huge surge in post-wedding popularity.
This year, again, despite the public's eagerness to see her she did the same. Why?
As with last year, Meghan standing at the back may be down to a few different factors.
Firstly, as Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, told PEOPLE in 2018 : "She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there's a pecking order.
"There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife."
Seems fair enough - except another royal source then disagreed, adding: "There's no one laying this out, telling her where to stand."
So maybe Meghan simply wanted to take a step back? One mere month after giving birth, no one could blame her for this. Most new mums would probably rather give birth again than participate in an event like Trooping the Colour.
There are also some logistical factors at play; with the Royal Family expanding, it's getting very crowded on the balcony, and it makes sense to place the little ones at the front, then have their parents behind them so they can keep an eye on them.
Also, given it's the Queen's birthday parade, the focus technically should be on the birthday day - perhaps Meghan was being mindful of that?
After all, no one puts Her Maj in the corner.
