Why Mauricio Pochettino is 'perfect' for Tanguy Ndombele's development at Tottenham

Tanguy Ndombele made an instant impression on his Premier League debut on Saturday as he opened his Tottenham account with a stunning goal.

Trailing 1-0 to John McGinn's early strike, the Frenchman restored parity in the 73rd minute with a curling effort beyond Tom Heaton after the team had failed to make the breakthrough despite dominating.

It proved to be just what the team needed as a double from Harry Kane with time running out clinched three points for Spurs that looked highly unlikely with twenty minutes remaining.

Supporters were definitely left pleased with Ndombele's performance on his debut and there's certainly more to come from the French international over the coming years.

The opportunity to work under Mauricio Pochettino on a regular basis will certainly enhance his game and the 22-year-old believes his new boss is "perfect" for him as he looks to take his game to the next level.

Mauricio Pochettino: My original plan did not work against Aston Villa

"I think that my style of play is tailor-made for English football and Tottenham are giving me the opportunity to play in the Premier League, so I am extremely happy to be here," he told the club's official matchday programme ahead of the game.

"I'm adapting step by step, my teammates and the staff have been really helpful to me in this new challenge.

"There's a great squad of players here and it's a pretty young one too.

"I really enjoyed the chat that I had with the manager before I joined.

"He spoke very well about what he was expecting from me and he gave me a great feeling.

"I think he is one of the best coaches around these days, the perfect one for me, just who I need to improve and progress as a player.

"I hope to be able to bring to the team what I know I can do! I want to do my bit for the club.

"The squad works really well together, and I hope to start well, integrate and settle into the group and then continue in the same way.

"I'm just really excited and looking forward to it. I'm very eager to get the season started and see where it takes us."
