Arsenal are hoping midfielder Matteo Guendouzi can help them complete a cut-price deal for a new striker.
The Gunners are reportedly planning a move for Lorient's Alexis Claude-Maurice, who is valued at £9 million.
Claude-Maurice has attracted attention in France, after netting 14 times in Ligue 2 this season.
The 20-year-old's form has led to interest from Arsenal, who see the striker as a potential bargain signing.
What's more, he is a former teammate of Guendouzi, which the Gunners hope will persuade Claude-Maurice on a switch to the Emirates.

Arsenal given transfer boost as target Leandro Trossard hints at Genk exit
Boss Unai Emery has been impressed with the Lorient frontman, but faces competition from Monaco, Lille, Eintracht Frankfurt, and newly-promoted Norwich.
Emery is confident of getting a deal over the line however, particularly with Guendouzi already on board.
The pair played together during the 20-year-olds time at the French club, with Guendouzi becoming a prominent figure in the Arsenal side since his move last summer.
Arsenal already boast good relations with Lorient, having also negotiated a deal for Laurent Koscielny several years ago.

Their strongest opposition for the player comes from Lille however, who have achieved qualification for the Champions League next season.
Claude-Maurice could favour an opportunity to test his mettle against Europe's elite, if Arsenal fail to beat Chelsea in the Europa League final.
However the success story of Guendouzi could prove to be enough convince him to move to the Emirates, with or without the guarantee of Champions League football.
