Why Marcus Rashford is out of Man Utd clash with Wolves at Molineux

Marcus Rashford is OUT of Manchester United's clash with Molineux at Wolves .

The England striker has been in superb form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

He was on target once again in the weekend victory over Watford , in what was Solskjaer's first game in permanent charge.

But Rashford has not made it for the encounter at Molineux after struggling with an ankle problem in recent days, although it is not the same problem that ruled him out of international action.

Solskjaer said: "Marcus got a knock again, it’s a different ankle, it’s not the same ankle luckily. He’ll be sorely missed today."

The news comes as a real blow to Solskjaer as United look to cement their place in the top four ahead of the season run-in.

Rashford's absence opens the door for Romelu Lukaku to return to the starting line-up.

The Belgian has been struggling with a foot problem but has proved his fitness and starts at Molineux.

That is one of six changes for United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rotates his squad.

Jesse Lingard and Victor Lindelof both come into the starting line-up while there are also recalls for Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield.

Nemanja Matic and Anthony Martial have dropped to the bench at Molineux.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has named a strong side despite his side being in FA Cup action this weekend.

His side face Watford in the semi-final at Wembley but the Wolves boss has brought Matt Doherty and Raul Jimenez back into the starting line-up after the defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

Teams

Wolves: Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre, Jota, Jimenez.

Man Utd: De Gea, Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw, Pogba, Fred, McTominay, Lingard, Dalot, Lukaku
