Why Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United are the Championship's best underdogs

Marcelo Bielsa has the Championship’s best record when it comes to defying the bookies odds.

Leeds United have been underdogs five times in league games during the Argentine’s time at Elland Road.

United won all five of those matches.

No other current Championship manager has either won or drawn a higher percentage of games when the bookies fancied the opposition.

Steve Bruce has the next best record having either won or drawn 70% of the games in which his current side (Sheffield Wednesday) have been the underdogs.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank has the next best record (67%) followed by Charlton’s Lee Bowyer (65%) and Preston’s Alex Neil (64%).

Bristol City’s Lee Johnson can also claim to be the Championship’s top bookie-beater.

The Robins have either won or drawn 34 games under Johnson despite their opponents being the most fancied side.

Cardiff have either won or drawn 31 such games under Neil Warnock, while Millwall have had 28 games under Neil Harris and Preston have had 27 such games under Alex Neill.
