Bruno Fernandes is 'just like' Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo as he cannot bear to lose, according to his former Sporting Lisbon teammate Luiz Phellype.
Fernandes completed his long awaited move to Old Trafford from Sporting in the January transfer window and has hit the ground running with the Reds.
The 25-year-old has been praised for his impact both on and off the field at the club, with his leadership qualities gained from captaining Sporting standing out in the dressing room.
His Portugal teammate Ronaldo also made the switch from Lisbon to Manchester back in 2003, becoming a legend at the club and establishing himself as one of the best players to have ever played the game.
Phellype compared Fernandes to Ronaldo claiming both players hate to lose.
"He is calm outside the field, but inside it is transformed," he told A Bola.
"Bruno Fernandes is like Cristiano Ronaldo, when he loses he can't talk to anyone.
"It didn't surprise me [that he hit the ground running].
"People think the Portuguese league is weak, but it is not true.
"The physical and tactical level is very high. Whoever stands out here, manages to stand out in other championships."
