Why Manchester United loanee Hannibal is yet to start a match for Birmingham

Birmingham City manager John Eustace thinks Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri has a point to prove in the Championship.

Hannibal joined the West Midlands club on a season-long deal as he looks to get more first-team experience at St Andrews. The 19-year-old has linked up with former United teammate Tahith Chong who joined the Blues on deadline day.

So far, the Tunisian has only made two substitute appearances for City against Preston North End and Norwich. Eustace has explained that Birmingham are under no pressure to play Hannibal.

"He has come on in the two games, he has certainly made an impact," Eustace told Birmingham Live. "We have had a couple of good performances so it is difficult to put him in at the moment.

"We will see in the next game, he might be starting, he might not be. He is obviously a quality player, we are very fortunate to have him here.

" He has a bit of fire in his belly – as has the whole squad at the moment. He is certainly very hungry and wants to do well and he is coming here with a point to prove."

"Not at all," the head coach responded when asked if he needed to pick Hannibal. "All I am worried about is Birmingham City and trying to get the best results for them, picking the right team to win a game on a Saturday."
