Why Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham miracles should spark hope Notts County 'can and will rise again'

Have we just witnessed the most thrilling and astonishing week in modern football history?

Beautiful, breathless nights at the Etihad, Anfield and the Johan Cruyff Arena were football at its finest and a reminder that there is always cause for hope and belief no matter how desperate things appear.

It feels like fate at work when, on Monday, a rare but majestic swipe of Vincent Kompany’s right boot plunders Manchester City into a lead that appears as though it will never come.

When a moment of genius from Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold completes the most remarkable comeback in living memory against the mighty Messi-led Barcelona.

How the hell did it ever come to this at Notts County?

Or when all hope appears lost and the clock is ticking down and yet a Lucas Moura-inspired Tottenham Hotspur produce an equally stirring comeback 24 hours later.

Is it not the possibility of such miraculous and memorable moments, the chance of achieving the impossible, of redemption, of the knowledge that the next game, the next week, the next season is around the corner that will always keep us coming back for more?

Even the depths of despair in which many Notts County fans will now find themselves, there is always a flicker of hope, room to believe the club can and will rise again.
