Why Man City manager Pep Guardiola disagrees with 2019 individual awards

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva would shine in any team in Europe, according to Pep Guardiola.

The Portugal star was beaten to the PFA Player of the Year by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, while his teammate Raheem Sterling beat him to the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Bernardo , however, has been the beating heartbeat of a team on the cusp of becoming the first to retain the Premier League title in ten years.

Through the middle or on the wing, the man nicknamed Bubblegum for his ball control has carried the side in the absence of last year’s enforcer Kevin De Bruyne and Guardiola has no doubts about his influence.

“He was the best, not just in our team," said the manager. "But I don’t vote.”

Asked if he could become one of the biggest stars in a league that could see Eden Hazard leave this summer, Guardiola replied that he would grace any team he wants.

"Bernardo can play incredibly well here, in everywhere. Give me one team, he will play well there. So clever, so smart, nice guy, he does everything well," he said.
