Why Luke Shaw thinks Manchester United and Arsenal are treated differently

Luke Shaw believes Manchester United are not treated the same way as Arsenal following their poor seasons in the Premier League.

United and Arsenal are both struggling in the English top-flight this season and look like they will fail to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been widely criticised for a poor season which currently sees them ninth in the Premier League, six points off Chelsea in fourth.

However, United still remain four points better off than Mikel Arteta's side with 13 games left remaining of the current campaign.

Shaw admits the criticism is expected when underperforming with United but believes his side are treated differently compared with Arsenal.

“Personally I have had to have a very thick skin,” Shaw told The Mirror.“Sometimes it’s easy for people to forget what I have actually been through.

“You need to have a thick skin to play football anywhere but especially so when you’re at the biggest club in the world.

“Everyone’s watching, everyone wants to have a go whenever you lose, everyone is just waiting to criticise the moment anything goes wrong.

“It’s just part and parcel of playing for United. No disrespect to Arsenal but they’re not exactly having the greatest of seasons and it hardly gets spoken about.

“I do find it quite funny that if it’s United everyone criticises, but Arsenal don’t get a mention.”
