Why Loose Women has been taken off air this week

ITV's popular lunchtime chat and magazine show Loose Women has been taken off the air for the remainder of this week.

The show is giving way to the Cheltenham Festival - the annual horse racing event.

Loose Women would usually start at 12.30pm but will instead be replaced at the start by extended programming before Cheltenham racing takes over from 1pm.

It's expected that the show's schedule will also be disrupted for the Aintree Grand National festival next month, reports The Echo.

Earlier this month Loose Women was cancelled to allow ITV to air a special show about the Budget.
