Why Lloyd Isgrove is confident of League One success with Bolton Wanderers after penning new deal

Lloyd Isgrove is confident that Bolton Wanderers can have a successful campaign in League One next season after seeing parallels from his time at Barnsley with the Whites.

The 28-year-old winger put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with Wanderers yesterday.

He scored three goals in 32 matches as Wanderers clinched automatic promotion to League One and scored the final goal of Bolton's season in the 4-1 victory over Crawley Town on the road.

Isgrove's deal was poised to run out this summer after he joined the club last year, but has now committed his future to Wanderers.

It will not be Isgrove's first taste of League One next season, having played in the division with previous clubs Peterborough United and Barnsley.

And it is with the Tykes he had the most success, in the 2015/16 campaign when he was on loan from Southampton and was on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory at Wembley over Millwall in the play-off final which saw the Yorkshire side win promotion to the Championship.

Isgrove is seeking back-to-back promotions with Wanderers and is confident of achieving this feat after seeing parallels with what he experienced at Oakwell with what he has seen at the UniBol over the past year.

He told the club YouTube channel: "I got promoted with Barnsley before and I see similar things here. I definitely know we've got the ability in the dressing room to do that and having that togetherness off the pitch as well is really going to help.

"I really hope I can get promoted again and to do back-to-back would be amazing at this football club.

"As long as we keep most of the squad together as much as we can then we'll be raring to go. I know the lads already are, we're in group chats and we're already talking about next season. We're really looking forward to it.

"We're making sure we tick over in the summer. Obviously we've enjoyed the promotion now but we're starting to switch back on now and really get into it for next season."
