Why Liverpool's Andy Robertson thinks Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers 'owes him one'

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has joked that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers "owes him one" after walking out on his beloved Celtic.

Former Reds boss Rodgers left the Hoops to take the Foxes job in February, and could do Liverpool a huge favour by taking points off Manchester City in Monday's huge clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Anything but a win for Pep Guardiola's side would mean that the destiny of the title would be in Liverpool's hands going into Sunday's final day of the season, and Rodgers has spoken bullishly about his side's chances of repeating December's victory over City under former boss Claude Puel.

“I don’t know (if I will watch it),” said Robertson after Liverpool's win over Newcastle on Monday.

“I’ve not shied away from the other ones, it’s not worked, so maybe I’ll try something different!

”Look, if I watch it or don’t watch it, it’s not going to make a difference. I’m a Celtic fan, Brendan’s left us so he maybe owes me one!”

Robertson added that he expects the hosts will have too much for the Foxes.

Leicester City are a good team but Manchester City are unbelievable, they’ve had eight days to recover from a heavy schedule, so we are expecting City to get off to a good start so hopefully Leicester can hold on,” he said.

“We won’t expect anything but all we can do is take it down to the last game. We’ve done that so we’ll look forward to next Sunday.”
