Why Liverpool shirt sponsor has changed for game against Tottenham

Eagled-eyed Liverpool supporters will notice something different about their side’s shirts for their clash against Tottenham.

The Reds return to Premier League action following a midweek win over Genk in the Champions League.

A win for Jurgen Klopp’s side would move them six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

And Liverpool’s players will wear special shirts for today's game.

Their shirts will bear the 'Futuremakers by Standard Chartered' logo to raise awareness of the Reds' main sponsor's global initiative to tackle inequality by empowering the next generation to learn, earn and grow.

Live updates and analysis from Liverpool vs Spurs

The partnership between the two began in 2010, and will now run until the 2022-23 season, after the club confirmed in May of last year that they have agreed an extension to their original commercial deal.

Standard Chartered have donated nearly 500 match tickets to the local community through Liverpool FC’s Red Neighbours programme over the last two seasons.
