Liverpool and RB Leipzig returning to Budapest and Man City vs Monchengladbach will follow

UEFA confirmed on Tuesday, March 10 that Man City would play their 'home' game against Borussia Monchengladbach in Budapest.

This article was correct at the time of publishing on March 4.

Liverpool will contest their Champions League second-leg match against RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena, according to the Hungary FA.

The Reds took on Leipzig in Budapest at the same stadium on February 16, winning 2-0 in what was their away match.

The first-leg game was unable to take place in Germany at the Red Bull Arena due to coronavirus restrictions.

Jurgen Klopp's men were denied entry into the country by the German government amid concerns over new strains of coronavirus.

And in a further move by authorities on the continent, should Leipzig have travelled to England to play at Anfield, they'd have been required to quarantine for 10 days upon their return.

Both sides will now return to Hungary on March 10 to complete the last-16 tie, with Liverpool acting as the home side this time around.

Elsewhere, Manchester City's first-leg 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach was also played at the Puskas Arena on February 16.

However, UEFA have since confirmed those two sides will play at the Etihad Stadium in their return leg on March 16 - handing Pep Guardiola's side an advantage.

This is because there are different regional restrictions affecting Leipzig, in the state of Saxony, to Monchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia.
