Why Liverpool and Chelsea 'will be concerned about Man City', according to David James

Manchester City had a 'very positive' week before the international break despite losing to Paris Saint Germain and drawing with Liverpool, according to ex-players Joleon Lescott and David James.

Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi scored his first PSG goal as the French side beat with a 2-0 Champions League group stage victory last week.

In their Premier League encounter against Liverpool, City twice had to come from behind as they registered a draw in a pulsating game at Anfield.

But despite failing to win either game, Lescott and James say there are plenty of positives to take as the players head into the international break.

Speaking to the Official Man City Podcast, Joleon Lescott said: "Very good, very positive like Pep [Guardiola] said, performances don't possibly echo the score lines, but if it was gonna lose one game, I'm okay with losing the PSG game because we can afford to drop points there, because I still feel, we'll go through and we avoid them regardless of where we finish first or second.

"But in the performances in the league immense. The first half, possibly should have scored, and the second half, fair, so great result."

David James went on to detail why City's Premier League title rivals will be concerned following their games with Pep Guardiola's side.

James said: "Absolutely. Like Joleon said, I think of the three games the one you could afford to lose was the one against PSG so as Pep said the fact they came back twice against Liverpool, forget who should have been sent off or whether he was sent off, you got to play, what you got to play in front of you.

"I think Liverpool and especially Chelsea will be concerned about how they've played against Man City in these two games so definitely a positive."
