Victor Orta holds the key to Leeds United’s Eddie Nketiah pursuit while Arsenal weigh up a dossier of offers from home and abroad for their striker.
Leeds United’s director of football travelled to London on Tuesday for talks with head coach Unai Emery and head of football Raul Sanllehi.
BristolLive understands Bristol City are, in fact, in pole position for Nketiah on loan, while several others in the Championship and Bundesliga are pushing for the striker.
However, standing out among this crowd could come down to Orta’s own personal relationship with Emery, who he counted as a colleague during their Sevilla days.
Orta had a successful period with the Spanish club working under recruitment chief Monchi, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, and alongside Emery as the head coach.
Orta hopes, with the lure of Marcelo Bielsa and a Championship-leading team, he will be able to prove to Emery while Nketiah should come to Elland Road for the season.
Few of Nketiah’s other suitors can consider themselves friends and confidants of Emery or Sanllehi.
