Why Leeds United have a huge advantage in year two under Marcelo Bielsa

Jack Harrison has discussed the learning curve that working under Marcelo Bielsa brings and why he and his Leeds United teammates have a significant advantage in their second year with the coach.

Harrison arrived at Elland Road on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2018, six weeks after Bielsa was appointed as Leeds United's head coach and following a promising first campaign, was soon signed up by the Whites for a second year.

Harrison grew in influence over his maiden season in West Yorkshire and continues to make progress, with a goal and an assist in Leeds' 2-0 win over QPR his latest excellent performance in a white shirt.

This match-winning turn helped Leeds to return to the top of the Championship table and Harrison believes that the longer he and his teammates work under Bielsa, the better they will be.

"It’s complicated at first to work with Marcelo with the amount of detail he puts in, but if you try and embrace it as a player you’re going to learn a lot.

"That’s exactly what I’ve tried to do, I’ve learnt so much playing under him. In the second year, looking to do the same thing, looking to improve each and every game."

Harrison has four assists in his last five games for Leeds and believes his game is continuing to develop.

"I’ve been continuing to work hard, the same as last year. Having that first year under my belt now has definitely helped with the comfortability and figuring out what the manager wants and what the team requires. It’s important to fulfil those needs.

"I think I’m always trying to do what’s best for the team, and having that year has helped with figuring all that out."

Next up for Leeds is another Elland Road clash against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
