Why Leeds buildings are being lit up in rainbow colours tonight

Buildings across Leeds city centre are being lit up for a very special reason tonight (May 17).

Leeds City Council is showing its support for International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). Buildings across the city will be lit up in rainbow colours in tribute of the day.

The council released the following statement on Facebook: "Buildings across the city will be lit up in rainbow colours this evening for International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT).

"On IDAHOBIT we look at the ongoing quest for the LGBT+ community and draw attention to the discrimination that all members face - daily, in our communities, nationally and internationally. Every year, the day has a theme and the focus this year is on "Our Bodies, Our Lives, Our Rights."
