Why Kourtney Kardashian split from Scott Disick and tensions over Travis Barker wedding

Kourtney Kardashian has tied the knot with Travis Barker - and there's one person who won't be particular happy.

Just seven months after the 43-year-old reality star and the 46-year-old Blink 182 drummer got engaged, they got married in a low-key ceremony in Santa Barbara, California this weekend.

They were spotted in the coastal town in traditional bride and groom wear and reportedly got married in front of a few close family and friends - having previously fooled fans into thinking they wed in front of an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas.

While the guest list is currently unknown, it's highly unlikey that Kourt's ex-partner Scott Disick was in attendance at the ceremony.

Scott reportedly said he was "ok" when his ex got enagged, but it's been claimed he "can't stand being around" Travis and there have been some awkward incidents,.

The American reality TV star dated Scott sporadically between 2005 and 2015, appearing in every series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and a number of spin-off series.

They welcomed their first child together, Mason, back in 2009 but a year later they put their relationship on hold while Scott sought rehab treatment and counseling for alcohol use and psychological issues.

There was almost a proposal in 2011 when Scott bought a ring, but Kourtney scuppered his plans before he could pop the question and said she didn't want their relationship to change.

"I feel like I used to want to get married more than she did, and then, being that she was always so not interested, I've decided not to be," he said in 2013.

As well as 12-year-old Mason, the former couple share Penelope, nine and Reign, seven, but Scott's partying ways caused tension as Kourtney accused him of leaving her to look after the kids.

Scott struggled with the deaths of both his parents in the space of three months in 2013 and entered rehab facilities in Connecticut and Costa Rica after his drink and drug problems got worse.

They finally split for good in 2015 when photos of Scott partying with another woman in Monte Carlo emerged and

"Kourtney has always taken Scott back and been by his side, but now with three kids it has gotten old," as source told E! News. "Kourtney has to do what's best for the kids."

"Scott has been running around saying he's single," the source added. "Kourtney dumped him after she saw the pics and he hasn't been home after a month-long party binge."

According to People magazine, Scott's continued partying had taken its toll on their relationship and in the end Kourtney decided she needed to put her children first.

"She was over dealing with his constant lies and addictions," a source told the mag. "It was becoming a poor environment for the kids to be raised in and she refused to let that be the case.

"Kourtney is willing to sacrifice her relationship with Scott in order to keep [her kids] safe.

"Her children are her first priority. She needs to protect herself and her family, so she knows this is the right decision."

In an episode of KUWTK, Scot was fight back tears as he discussed his actions and their split.

"I f--ked up. I made the worst decision I could've ever made in my life," he explained.

After breaking up with the Kardashian, Disick entered another rehab facility in Florida and in 2017 he started dating model Sofia Richie, who is 15 years his junior.

While Kourtney was in another on-off relationship with model Younes Bendjima from 2016 to 2020, but has now seemingly found the love of her life in Travis.

Initially, Scott seemed like he was pleased for the pair but he was awkwardly exposed slamming their steamy PDAs.

Kourtney's other ex, Younes, claimed Scott messaged him about her romantic holiday to Italy with Travis.

Younes took to his Instagram account to share a screenshot, which appeared to have been sent to him from Scott's Instagram account, writing: "Yo is this chick ok!???? Broooo like what is this. In the middle of Italy," alongside a snap of Kourtney putting on a tactile display with partner Travis.

Younes then replied: "Doesn’t matter to me as long as she’s happy PS: I ain't your bro."

Scott told the cameras during the Kardashian-Jenner family's latest reality series that "it was a huge adjustment losing Kourtney romantically, but now it’s becoming hard losing her as a best friend.

"Now we’re really just more coparenters. I’d say it’s probably one of the more difficult things in my life," he said.

In September, a source told celeb magazine US Weekly that the exes had drifted further apart in recent times.

The insider said: "Outside of coparenting, Scott and Kourtney’s relationship is nonexistent.

"[Scott’s] really just focused on being there for his kids and spending time with them, as well as focused on his brand and any opportunities that come his way."

But Scott suggested to Kourtney's sister Khloe that he is now moving on from his ex, saying: "This is probably the first time in 15 years that we have had a really long break from having cameras follow our every move. And I think it got a little lonely.

"Honestly I think for the first time in my life it is finally starting to change. Now that Kourtney has her life with Travis, as hard as it is, it does give me a place to finally be able to move on."

He went on to disagree with Khloe over whether he should be around when Barker was involved in family get togethers.

"Feeling left out and not being told anything is super hurtful - especially when I don’t have another family to go to," he pointed out. "I’d rather be around them and be around my family than not at all."

However, an insier told PEOPLE that he was "not happy" about the engagement, explaining: "Scott never approved of Kourtney dating Travis. He has struggled with their relationship.

"He always had this idea that he and Kourtney would eventually get back together. He was pretty shocked when he found out that she was dating Travis."

Scott was told about Kourtney's engagemen to Travis - with Kourtney explaining she still tries to be sensitive.

Newly-engaged Kourtney revealed in a confessional: "I'm sensitive to him and his feelings and I communicate with him about the kids and I make sure that he's good, but beyond that I just got engaged. I want to be happy and enjoy the moment."

Scott and Travis have been seen together at family events, including at a basketball game together, as they put put their differences aside for the sake of the children.

A source told US magazine: "Scott adores his kids and would do anything to make them happy.”

However, it's said the pair are "not on friendly terms" and usually only hang out "because the kids are around."

The source said Kourtney's love life is a sore subject, adding: "He feels like Kourtney was the one that got away and [he] still can’t wrap his head around the fact that they’re getting married soon.”

"He feels like he’s not going to find someone like Kourtney."
