Why Kalvin Phillips is missing from Leeds United's team against Huddersfield Town

Kalvin Phillips is still suffering with the knee injury he first suffered against Reading last month and misses out against Huddersfield Town.

The talismanic midfielder returned from the problem, which saw him limp off against the Royals and miss the Middlesbrough trip, at Hull City last weekend, but played in discomfort.

This week he has trained, including an intense murderball session on Wednesday, and could have played today, but the decision was taken on Friday night not to take the risk.

Playing today’s game could have exacerbated the problem and even risked putting him out for the rest of the season. A risk the club did not want to take.

Hopes are high he will be fit for the trip to Cardiff City next weekend. Meanwhile, Gaetano Berardi was the man to replace Phillips in the team facing the Terriers.
