Why Jose Mourinho congratulated Daniel Levy after Tottenham's win against Arsenal

Jose Mourinho praised Daniel Levy for bringing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham Hotspur after the midfielder's starring role in the victory against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Denmark international put in a man of the match performance in the north London derby, constantly breaking up the visiting side's play and providing leadership in the centre of the park.

The deal for Hojbjerg from Southampton in the summer ultimately cost Spurs only £3m in outlay, with right-back Kyle Walker-Peters heading in the opposite direction.

It was a deal Spurs had been looking at since January before concluding it in the summer as the Dane reached the final year of his contract.

Mourinho indicated that he believes Hojbjerg will eventually become a manager before praising the player and his chairman.

"Pierre is very intelligent, he reads the game very well, he understands the game very well," explained the Spurs boss.

"He is going to be a coach one day, for sure. He is a pain, always asking questions why we do this and that.

"On the pitch he reads the situation very, very well and the people that surround him they are really compact and they read the game. Physically he is very strong and technically he is much better than people think.

"Sometimes people think the guy that is good technically is the guy who does the back heel, the guy who does something wonderful, but these are not my words, they are words of some coaches from 30 or 40 years ago: Simplicity is genius and the guy is so simple in everything he does with the ball and I think he is a phenomenal player. Congratulations Mr Levy."
