Tottenham will have to wait another year to get their hands on the FA Cup following their 5-4 defeat at Everton on Wednesday evening.
Twice coming from behind to draw level after Everton had turned the game on its head following Davinson Sanchez's early opener, Bernard won the tie for the hosts in the first half of extra time with a neat finish.
The defeat means that Spurs' only real opportunity to win silverware this season is either in the Europa League or Carabao Cup now after a dreadful run of form in the Premier League has seen them drop to eighth after riding high in the table at Christmas.
While on paper their FA Cup exit does make their schedule a lot easier with one less competition to play in, Jose Mourinho and his team may actually face the prospect of two more rearranged games depending on who exactly progresses to the latter stages of the cup.
Following the final two FA Cup fifth round ties on Thursday evening, the competition resumes on the weekend of Saturday, March 20 when Spurs are pencilled in to play Southampton in N17.
Whether the Premier League will have to find a new date for the clash will become a lot clearer tonight as Saints look to seal a place in the final eight by winning away at Wolves.
Tottenham could also be forced to move their match on the weekend of the semi-finals on Saturday, April 17 as they are due to play Everton.
However, their game against Aston Villa will remain on the weekend of Saturday, May 15 as neither side can now make the final after their FA Cup exit.
Potential new dates for the league games would free up the team on the aforementioned weekends, yet it could make things rather hectic for the team if the matches are to be played in midweek instead, especially as away games against Aston Villa and Fulham need to be rearranged.
Already facing a hectic schedule as it is this season, it's going to be all go in the remaining months of the campaign if Tottenham go far in the Europa League.
