Why Jordan Pickford did not enjoy watching Sunderland 'Til I Die

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford admits he did not enjoy the Netflix documentary Sunderland 'Til I Die as it reminded him of the 'tough times' he endured at the Black Cats.

The documentary's second season was released at the beginning of the month, charting the club's attempt to bounce back into the Championship at the first time of asking under Jack Ross.

Pickford signed for Everton in a deal worth £30m following Sunderland's relegation to the Championship in 2017.

The goalkeeper was asked by an Everton supporter in the club's question and answer session on social media on Monday whether he had watched the documentary on his former side.

The England number one confirmed he had watched the first season which showed the Black Cats' suffer a second successive relegation.

Despite praising the show for reflecting his home club's "passion and belief", the 26-year-old admitted he had not watched the latest season as he had not enjoyed it.

Speaking to the club's website, Pickford said: "I've watched the first season, I did not watch the second season.

"For me personally I didn't enjoy it, seeing how the club was ran and I was there when it was getting ran like that as well.

"They were tough times, but it is a great programme to watch to see my home club - the belief and the passion.

"I feel it's very similar to Everton's passion and belief as well as a club. When I first signed for Everton, I felt very comfortable because it's the same sort of base."
