Why Jesse Lingard and Aaron Wan Bissaka start for Manchester United vs Leeds

Jesee Lingard and Aaron Wan Bissaka both start for Manchester United against Leeds because of their experience of playing in such big games during their career.

Ralf Rangnick has made three changes to his side for the trip to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, as United go in search of a much-needed win to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Wan-Bissaka comes in at right-back, Paul Pogba starts in midfield and Lingard comes into the attack for his first Premier League start for the club in two years.

Speaking ahead of the match, the interim manager explained his team selection and, in particular, why Lingard has been given a rare chance in attack.

Rangnick told MUTV: "To start with experience. They have played against Leeds in former times. Jesse looked sharp in training. He has got a lot of experience. He can cover the pitch and hopefully score goals. That is what he also did in training. That is why he deserved the chance to start."

When further pressed on the decision to start Lingard the interim manager added: "He just behaved as a professional should behave, that is why he deserves to start today."
