Why Jean-Kevin Augustin is missing from Leeds United's squad at Middlesbrough

Jean-Kevin Augustin misses out on Leeds United’s clash with Middlesbrough with a minor injury, LeedsLive understands.

The French striker has played 49 minutes across three substitute appearances for the Whites since arriving on loan from RB Leipzig last month.

However, his name was missing from Wednesday’s teamsheet at Riverside Stadium after he picked up a muscle problem.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa is expected to provide more detail after full-time, but it is understood March 7’s clash with Huddersfield Town is a more realistic return game than this weekend’s trip to Hull City.

Augustin’s absence was a surprise on a night when Kiko Casilla and Kalvin Phillips were considered the biggest doubts for United.

The goalkeeper was named in the starting XI, despite third-choice goalkeeper Elia Caprile travelling to Teesside, while Phillips missed out altogether.
