The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Kentucky Defensive End Josh Allen with the 7th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Versatile and hard working are the perfect way to describe Allen. He is not a stellar athlete with great bend but he does offer great ability as a pass rusher regardless. He puts a lot of work into film study and uses his knowledge to beat really good offensive tackles. His ability to rush the passer and also drop in coverage make him an interesting prospect for defensive coordinators.
For the Jaguars, taking the chance on Allen could turn out to be quite beneficial. He is a versatile piece that fits perfectly in their defense. He can drop into coverage for them or rush the passer at a high level. For a defense that already has a ton of speed and versatility, Allen should add to that.
A great replacement for Dante Fowler and an excellent addition to a stellar line that already features Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue.
