Why it's so important to show our healthcare workers some love

More than one and a half million people are employed by the NHS alone.

It is the largest employer in the UK, and on the global stage its numbers rank just under the likes of McDonald's and Walmart.

With around one in 60 people in Britain being employed by the NHS you're likely to know someone, either a family member or friend, working hard in this selfless sector.

And yet, our health service continues to face challenges - from a skills shortage particularly in nursing and midwifery to the increasing complexity of illnesses and an ageing population.

With such challenges come more pressure directly on frontline staff. That is why is it so important to speak up about your positive experiences of treatment and care.

We at the Bristol Post and Bath Chronicle are looking to shine a light on our cities' healthcare heroes.

Whether it's a GP team, a nurse, a paramedic or a porter, we want to shout about the achievements our incredible medical staff are doing to show them that their hard work isn't going unnoticed and that we appreciate what they do.

The best way you can show some recognition to a team or individual is to nominate them for a Health and Care Award.

To do so visit  bhealthandcareawards.co.uk or complete the form within this article.
