Why isn't The Voice semi-final on TV tonight?

Tonight there's been a big change to the format of the long-running singing contest The Voice.

The hit ITV talent show with the spinning chairs was due to screen its live semi-final tonight followed by the final next weekend.

However ITV has announced that it's doing something different tonight in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.

TV bosses say the live semi-final and final will be back later in the year instead.

So tonight, at 8.30pm, there'll be a special 'best bits' edition of the show instead - and it will be hosted by will.i.am, who has been a coach on The Voice since it originally launched over on BBC One in 2012.

"While we can't bring you #TheVoiceUK live Semi-Final until later this year, we CAN bring @iamwill to your telly at 8.30pm to relive some of #TheVoiceUK's most memorable moments," announced the show on social media.

"Where there's a Will, there's a way..."

Over the past four series on ITV The Voice, currently starring Black Eyed Peas rapper and producer Will, Meghan Trainor, Olly Murs and Sir Tom Jones as coaches, has featured 249 blind auditions, 160 button pushes, 80 battles and 96 knockout rounds.

"Better then nothing but shall miss what would have been semi final keep safe everyone," messaged one fan.

Last year's show was won by Molly Hocking who was coached by former X Factor finalist Olly.
