Why isn't The One Show on tonight? BBC One programme cancelled all week

The One Show has been taken off the air this week to make way for the Women's Euro 2022. The tournament gets underway on Wednesday, July 6 when England takes on Austria with coverage on BBC One.

There have been many changes to The One Show lately. The programme, which is hosted by Welsh presenter Alex Jones, moved to BBC Two temporarily due to Wimbledon coverage. It also aired at a later time on Tuesday, July 5 due to extended news coverage following the resignations of Government ministers Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid.

And now Alex and co-host Jermaine Jenas have confirmed the show will be taking a short hiatus, returning on Tuesday, July 12.

Speaking to viewers at the end of Tuesday's show, Jermaine said: "We're going to be off for the rest of the week to make way for the Wome's Euros but we'll be back next Tuesday, BBC One at 7pm so we'll see you then."

It comes after Alex asked viewers for help with sore throat remedies earlier this week after opening the show with a croaky voice. As the first instalment of the week kicked off on Monday Jermaine explained the 45-year-old was "powering through" as he pointed out her voice was sounding "a little bit ropey".

After introducing the show, Jermaine asked: "Erm, sounding a little bit ropey there Al, you okay? Your voice is a bit..."

"Better than I was," Alex replied. "But you know, sponsored by pineapple juice."

The mum-of-three explained she was finding the sore throat "frustrating" as she asked viewers for help. "Any home remedies, send them in, it's the most frustrating thing!" Alex said.

Jermaine added: "It is, come on, she's pushing through, people. Help her out, send her in your remedies." You can read more on this here. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
